State of Economic Well-Being 2024 - Session 2

Education Opportunities & Challenges

This was the second installment of our 2024 three-part series focused on the state of economic well-being for transition-age youth.

During the session, speakers and network members explored the state of education for youth farthest from opportunity. This packed 90-minute session dug into trends in the field, discussed pressing problems and opportunities, and explored what this moment means for older youth and young adults who are in foster care, involved in the juvenile justice system, experiencing homelessness, or struggling to access the education they need to survive and succeed.

This session was open to all YTFG members.

Speakers:

  • Bruce Lesley – President of First Focus on Children

  • Kathleen McNaught – Director of the Legal Center for Foster Care and Education at the American Bar Association

  • Nina Salomon – Deputy Division Director, Corrections and Reentry at the Council of State Governments, Justice Center
