YTFG’s Fall meeting delved into an array of investment strategies philanthropy can consider to support the well-being and equity of youth and young adults. We lifted up incredible examples of amazing work underway in Albuquerque, New Mexico — notably in educational transformation, youth organizing, healing-centered practices, and community collaboration for youth justice.

Dr. Shawn Ginwright
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Shawn Ginwright back to the network! Dr. Ginwright is one of the nation’s leading innovators, provocateurs, and thought leaders on healing-centered practice, youth activism, and youth development. Dr. Ginwright is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flourish Agenda, Inc., a national nonprofit consulting firm, whose mission is to design strategies that unlock the power of healing and engage youth of color and adult allies in transforming their schools and communities. published. His most recent book, The Four Pivots: Reimagining Justice, Reimagining Ourselves, is a powerful must-read for anyone working in youth development fields. Dr. Ginwright was recently named a Professor of Practice at Harvard's Graduate School of Education.
Carissa McGee
Carissa McGee is a self-described Returning Citizen, Entrepreneur, Author, Wife and Motivational Speaker.
Carissa spent 13 years of her life entangled in the Criminal Justice System before her 30th birthday. SHe experienced traumas, defeats, and pains to last a lifetime in those first 30s years. She discovered her purpose, her "why", her reason for existing and it's with that identity that she found life."
Carissa is a successful entrepreneur and author of, "Trust Your Struggle," a self-published book based on her life's story through an abusive childhood and 9 years of life behind bars. Carissa has been a motivational speaker and trainer for over 10 years and continues to give back to her community, one member at a time.
